Editor’s Note: The following is the second in a monthly series of Q&As with S2 Security CEO, John Moss. This month, we discuss the need for failover capabilities and S2 Security’s High Availability solution, a new offering to improve existing S2 products. Read the press release here.
Q: Why is S2 focusing on a high availability solution?A: Our highest end customers, particularly those with regulatory compliance needs, have been asking for a system that fulfills high up-time requirements.
A: This is a classic hot stand-by redundant system that maintains itself and is simple to set up and operate, making it easy for our customers. The High Availability solution offers a redundant system pair that continually and automatically synchronizes, so that the backup system always has a copy of what is on the primary system. When the primary system fails the backup system begins operating and takes over.
A: Our solution is easier by far to configure because the High Availability functionality is built into all our products, as opposed to requiring the addition of third party software. As a result, of all High Availability solutions on the market today, ours is the least expensive system to implement, and the easiest and fastest to set up.
A: Typically, it is those with regulatory compliance requirements or other particularly demanding applications. These customers cross every business sector.
A: Because the S2 High Availability solution requires no third party software, the solution offers a simple and quick installation process. All you need are two identical systems.
A: The S2 NetBox Extreme and other large S2 systems, such as S2 Enterprise, build 458 or later, are able to run the High Availability solution as long as you have two identical systems. There is special pricing available when buying these as pairs. At this time, the High Availability solution is not available for the S2 NetBox Plus or the S2 Pronto products.
